Light Rock Fishing equipment I use

Below is a current list of the equipment I use for my LRF. Plymouth has a many different marks, although not really necessary I like to have a rod suited to the conditions.

Finesse Fishing Plymouth

Well is time I put together a blog to keep track of the Methods  I use to hunt a catch rock fish from the Shores of Devon & Cornwall. This Blog will be a Photo journal with a bit of a mix of styles. I will mostly  fish LRF , HRF &  Lures . By trade I’m a photographer but really struggle to mix the two  at the same so many of my images are taken with an Iphone 4 ( cringe) I know but for me it has to be one or the other and in my time off it’s fishing 100%

In short I don’t use live bait, only soft or hard plastic lures. For me thats the attraction, the hunt! 99% of the fish I catch will be released unharmed. (Catch & release)

LRF is a term coined in Japan as LIGHT ROCK FISHING. Light being the optimum word with lures in the 1g or less category up to 7g in the case of my rods. This has to be my favourite style. For me  its all about the feel resulting  in catching a fish or two. In general I won’t name my marks but  some popular fishing areas will be mentioned. I started proper Ultra light fishing or LRF late 2010. It was first picked up & introduced in late 2009 helped along by a few specialist angling shops. Art of Fishing & MR Fish Jersey

I would credit Jersey Bass Guides (JBG) for their endless quest to find new ways of presentation resulting in many species along with a few other dedicated blogs which I will eventually link this site to.

HRF Also coined in Japan is short for HARD ROCK FISHING.

PLUGGING is a general term for lure fishing.

I would prefer not to categorise my fishing styles to I use the term finesse fishing. I think this term covers all styles as even when lure fishing the rod I currently use is particularly light weight  with a casting weight of 7g- 20g  the Nories Flatfish program. I will go into more detail about my equipment in a later blog.
